If you’re like me, going out for Valentine’s Day can seem like a lot of pressure. From getting ready, to going to the right restaurant and hoping their food and service don’t suffer from the hyped up holiday.
Or, you can just cozy up at home, make an awesome dinner, indulge in some strawberries dipped in chocolate and watch a movie on the couch. Because this to me sounds like the ideal situation for Valentine’s Day, I’m hoping it’s exactly what my Husband and I end up doing.
No matter who you spend Valentine’s Day with, make the most of it and just unwind with a glass of wine or a cocktail! Whether it’s your significant other, friend/s, or relative, coming up with a cocktail for Valentine’s Day can be a fun way to get the evening going!
This weekend I felt like a mad scientist mixing some ingredients together to see If I’d like anything. Sure enough, I found a yummy mix!
I’m going to call this cocktail the Gazelatini and it includes:
- 1/4 of Cranberry Apple Smirnoff Vodka
- 3/4 of Gazela Vinho Verde (Rosé preferred – more on wine down below)
- Mint leaves
Gazela Vinho Verde is a wine made in Portugal. It is most commonly known for its classic Vinho Verde which literally translates to green wine but means young wine. They also make a rosé and a white wine as well. I would describe Vinho Verde to be light and refreshing. Now, I’m no wine connoisseur so this is as descriptive as it’s going to get. On the Gazela website however, it explains that it’s got “notes of citrus and tropical fruit, lively acidity and balanced by its slight sweet flavour”.
I had a bottle of Gazela Vinho Verde in the fridge and I went searching for the Gazela Rosé at my local grocery store but couldn’t find it. So I decided to stick with what I had. If you’re able to find the Gazela Rosé, I highly recommend that one over the classic Vinho Verde wine. The “raspberry” rosé really highlights the aromas of berries and would be a nice mix to the cranberry apple Smirnoff vodka.
I love raspberries, so I threw a few in each glass and slightly muddled them so they were somewhat broken apart. Add the 1/4 of the flavoured Smirnoff and then 3/4 with Gazela Vinho Verde (Rosé preferred). Top with some more raspberries and add some mint leaves for that added freshness! Et Voilà!
I Hope you enjoy your Valentine’s Day and remember that it’s a day like any other! Celebrate love every single day…and I’m going to stop before this gets any cheesier.
Happy VDAY!! 💕💕💕
